In addition to the Business Support package announced on Wednesday, the South Australian Government has also announced a COVID-19 Disaster Payment for individuals.
Eligibility criteria for this payment is as follows:
You are an Australian resident or hold a visa that gives you the right to work in Australia;
You are 17 years or older;
You are not receiving an income support payment, ABSTUDY Living Allowance, Dad and Partner Pay or Parental Leave Pay;
You are not receiving the Pandemic Leave Disaster Payment, a state or territory pandemic payment or a state small business payment for the same period; and
You have lost income and don’t have any appropriate paid leave entitlements (does not apply to annual, unpaid, sick, carer, long service or compassionate leave – only other state pandemic payments and the Pandemic Leave Disaster Payment).
You also need to satisfy the following:
You live in, work from or have visited a Commonwealth-declared COVID-19 hotspot that is subject to a state restricted movement order or you live in or work from other areas of South Australia; and
You were unable to earn your usual income of 8 hours or more or a full day’s work because you were in the COVID-19 hotspot and are subject to restricted movement or you live or work from other areas of South Australia.
If you are eligible for the payment, the amounts claimable are as follows:
$375 for workers who have lost less than 20 hours of work per week; or
$600 for those who have lost 20 or more hours per week.
Payment is made in arrears each week for as long as restrictions are in place.
You can apply via MyGov from Wednesday 28 July 2021.
Other COVID-19 payments are available if you are required to quarantine for 14 days or self-isolate whilst awaiting test results.
